Shat Gombuj Mosque: Medieval Muslim Shrine in Bagerhat

Shat Gombuj Mosque or the mosque(shrine) of Sixty Dome is in Bagerhat District, Khulna Division, Bangladesh. It is one of the most famous heritage Muslim sites in Bangladesh. The architect was Khan Jahan Ali.


About Shat Gombuj Mosque

Khan Jahan Ali established the mosque in the year 1459. It is one of the oldest mosques in the region. UNESCO recognized this site as a world heritage. It is the most impressive Muslim structure in the Indian subcontinent. The mosque has 60 pillars that support 77 square sized domes. There are four towers in the four sides of the mosque.

St Martin's Island: A Pearl on the Ocean



Idyllic St Martin’s Island is the Bangladesh’s only coral island and its beaches do actually match the hype. It is about 9 km south of the angle of the Cox's Bazar-Teknaf peninsula, and forming the southernmost part of Bangladesh. It is about 8 km west of the northwest coast of Myanmar, at the mouth of the Naf River. Local name of the island is "Narical Gingira", also spelled "Narikel Jinjira/Jinjera", that means 'Coconut Island' in Bengali.
