Nillgiri Peak

‘Nilgiri’ or ‘Nil Giri’ is one of the tallest peaks and beautiful tourist spot in Bangladesh. It is about 3500 feet high and situated at Thanci Thana. It is about 46 km south of Bandarban on the Bandarban-Chimbuk-Thanchi road. Beside this spot you can see Mro villages.

Their colorful culture and living style are surely an unexplored experience for the visitors. In rainy season here creates a spectacular scenery, the whole spot is covered with the blanket of clouds. You can enjoy a cloudy experience.

Winter is waiting for you with its foggy gesture on the height. It is a nice place for campfire in that season. Most attractive time is the dawn. It is better if you chose to stay during 7-18 dates of a lunar month to enjoy the moonlit night. You can also enjoy the serpentine course of Sangu River. This is the most spectacular tourist spot in Bandarban and managed by Army brigade of Bandarban.

How to go Nilgiri?

Are you a foreigner? Have you managed visa to come in Bangladesh? If not, apply to your country’s Bangladesh embassy. When you have received your visa, buy your tickets from most famous airlines. Almost every airlines have their regular flight to Dhaka or Chittagong in Bangladesh. You have to decide where you want to go at first? Dhaka or Chittagong? There are international airports in both cities. So go ahead as per your plan.

If you want to see the longest sea-beach in the world then you should come in Chittagong. It’s nearer to these tourist spots.

After landing in Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka you can check into a local hotel or lodge. There are a number of standard hotel included many 5 star hotels in Dhaka. Then you can hire a car or you can travel to Bandarban city through road transport or train. We have a lot of good AC bus in that rout.

If you want to land in Chittagong, you will be nearer to Bandarban than Dhaka. It is only 72 km far from Chittagong. After landing in Chittagong you can also check into a local hotel. Obviously there are a good number of standard hotels in this city included some 5 star hotels.

You can hire a car or contract with a travel agency. It will be safer if you are wth a local travel agency. They will make you round of many beautiful place and tell the description of these spots. But before making contract check their price and compare it with other agencies.

This maintain tourist spot is controlled or regulated by the Bangladesh Army. You have to confirm the reservation through an army officer.

There are three well-furnished cottages ranging from Tk4000-7000. There are also three tents having 4 beds each Tk 2000 per tent. There is also restaurant, helipad etc. Electricity available from 6-9 pm and temperature near 10-25 degree Celsius. Nilgiri is 46 kilometer away from Bandarban sadar. Visitor can hire a private vehicle traditionally called “Chander Gari” from Bandarban sadar or you can go there by Thanci bound bus. On the way to Nilgiri Visitor have to register his name and address to the military check post and you have pay 50 tk (less than $1).
